The New 7th Wonder of the World - Maasai Mara Luxury Safari - 5 Days / 4 Nights Trip highlights: This trip takes you to Maasai Mara;In November 2006, the Maasai Mara was named as the New 7th wonder of the world because of what experts termed as "the uniqueness of the area and the preservation it provides to so many species living in harmony." It is understandable because this annual migration is the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth. The Maasai Mara National Reserve is 270 km from Nairobi, a five hour drive or 45 min by air. For a full package of scenery, game and the ultimate bush experience, the Mara is the place to be. You will be staying in Lodge or Luxury tented camps while on this trip. Itinerary: Day1: Arrival - Nairobi City Day 2: Nairobi - Maasai Mara The Maasai Mara National Reserve as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Kenya covers an area of over 1,500 sq. km. it is located in the Great Rift valley in an open primarily grassland where wildlife tends to be most concentrated on the reserves western escarpment. The swampy land provides more access to water and less access to tourists. The Eastern end is closest to Nairobi and hence easier to access by tourists. Day 3: Maasai Mara OR Optional Balloon Flight In The Maasai Mara, there have been some 95 species of mammals, amphibians and reptiles and over 400 birds species recorded on the Maasai Mara Reserve. Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant, and it is for this reason a visitor hardly misses to see the big five (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion and rhino.) You will be able to visit the local Ngiya market, pass through the equator line at Maseno and visit the local Kogelo dispensary, Kogelo market and Senator Barack Obama secondary school just behind the home. In addition to this trip, you will also visit, time allowing the Siaya town, Dominion Farm, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Mausoleum and Kit Mikaye. You will also visit the local villages in the surrounding. Itinerary: Day1: Arrival - Nairobi City Day 2: Nairobi - Kisumu City - Kogelo - Kisumu Kogelo is a typical Kenyan rural village with most residents living modestly by small-scale farming. The village has a primary school - Senator Obama Primary School and a high school -Senator Obama Secondary School. The land for both schools was donated by Barack Obama, Sr., a native of the village and they were renamed after his son and then US senator Barack Obama in 2006. There is also a health centre. The village has a shopping centre with shops and a bar. Previously the village had no electricity, but it was connected to the power network immediately after the 2008 US presidential election. All meals and overnights at Imperial hotel, Sunset hotel or Kisumu hotel. You will have a days stay within the homestead chatting with granny Sarah and the community leaders. Lunch will be served at the homestead. You will then disembark to Kisumu city for Dinner and Overnight. Dinner and overnight at Imperial hotel Sunset hotel or Kisumu hotel. Day 3: Kisumu City-Kogelo village Kogelo is the ancestral home of Barack Obama, Sr., the father of current United States President-elect Barack Obama. Barack Obama, Sr. is buried in the village. Some of their family members, including his paternal grandmother Sarah Anyango Obama, still live in the home.In the home, Sarah Obama’s home; you will find both the grave sites for Barack Obama Sr. and his father’s. you will also find in the homestead Sarah’s house, the security tents, visit the vegetable garden, the cattle Boma and sit under the big mango trees where Sarah usually have interviews with visitors. (Alternatively, you may decide to spend a night in a rural homestead or a modern homestead along the Lake Victoria. You will be able to see plenty of wildlife varying from Kenya's Big five, the lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and the cheetah among a host of other different animal species. Itinerary: Day 1: Arrival - Nairobi City Day 2: Nairobi National Park Nairobi National Park is one of the most successful of Kenya's rhino sanctuaries that is already generating a stock for reintroduction in the species former range and other upcoming sanctuaries. Due to this success, it is one of the few parks where a visitor can be certain of seeing a black rhino in its natural habitat. To the south of the park is the Athi-Kapiti Plains and Kitengela Migration and dispersal area. These are vital areas for herbivores dispersal during the rains and concentrate in the park in the dry season. Dinner and overnight at Fairview Hotel. Day 4: Maasai Mara OR Optional Balloon Flight Day 5: Maasai Mara - Nakuru Day 6: Nakuru Lake Nakuru National Park: Located 160km Northwest of Nairobi, is home to millions of fuchsia pink flamingoes, the fish eating pelicans as well as over 450 other species of birds. It is also a good location for game viewing, including the black rhino, the lion, and the waterbuck as well as other antelopes. It is one of the best places to see the leopard as well as the endangered Rothschild Giraffes. The national park was gazetted to protect the flamingoes and also provide sanctuary to endangered species like the rhino. Although the main attraction to the park is the pink flamingos, a visitor will also get to see plenty of giraffes, waterbucks and other game.
