The family adventures into Africa take in relaxed, gentler adventures, where the safari is an entire learning experience. Among these family travel options are: -

Walking in the hills, visiting game parks, the excitement of a safari through coffee and tea plantations, following wildlife trails, experiencing heritage villages, reviving ancient cultural arts and crafts.

All experiences aid in a special bonding, making the travel experience a memory cherished by the family forever. Special care is taken in designing the tour by keeping in mind the needs of the parents and children alike. Victoria safaris take into account the age group, physical fitness and details of health and safety. If on an activity tour, we would provide equipment for children sizes and additional staff would accompany the family along the safari, keeping a higher ratio, thus ensuring safety and minimizing risk and interpreting and understanding the local culture and nature effectively.

Victoria Safaris has several itineraries suitable for your family's visit to East Africa-Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Our family tourism adventures are quite adverse; they include Family Accommodations, Family Tours and Family Safaris;

Family Accommodation
When it comes to family travel you want to open your kids’ eyes to new cultures and ideas by taking them to different countries and destinations. You can stay with you family in Luxurious Hotels, Lodges and Camps. But if you won’t compromise their safety by staying in hotels, lodges or camps in unsafe parts of town—and your budget is limited. Relax. Victoria Safaris has several alternatives as to how the best family travel is usually the least expensive. For instance;

Family Home stays
Victoria safaris will arrange for your family to stay in a home whether you want to stay in the city, beach or in the rural village areas around Lake Victoria or any where you may wish your family to stay at Homestays is ideal for families. Instead of paying a few hundred dollars each night for cramped hotel rooms, we will arrange your family stay in a roomy house that may well come with bikes, toys, and even a car—while your hosts are house-sitting for you and watching over your property. Home stays also offers great opportunities for meeting the neighbors.

Family Budget Camping
In Africa, camping usually means crowding into a small tent in the rain, swatting mosquitoes, and cooking over a fire somewhere off in the woods. In Kenya, Victoria safaris will arrange for your Budget camping in the game parks, wildlife sanctuaries by setting up a tent and providing a cook for your family or alternatively stay in a lodge on a budget safari. You will be given family attention and security all the way. With Victoria Safaris, you can rent a 2- or 3-bedroom tent or bungalow, complete with kitchen facilities, and relax while your kids explore the playground within the campsite. We Prefer Lodge safari than to camping for family tours because of the kids.

Family Home Rentals
You can rent a home with the help of Victoria safaris for the period you will be in East Africa-Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. It’s still cheaper and roomier than a hotel, and if you enquire directly to us for your chosen location, you’ll save a bundle over renting through a "Real Estate agency.” In our experience, direct rentals can often cost as little as $250-$400 per week.

Youth Hostels
East Africa, Youth hostels have public lounges and kitchens where guests can gather and mingle. Yet you don’t have to stay in dormitories, listening to the snores of strangers and worrying about your kids. Most hostels now offer family rooms for four to six people, so you can save money over hotels and meet plenty of fellow wanderers.

Family Cottages
Family cottages come handy for those who want to maintain family life while travelling. You will rent a family cottage with all the facilities as the ones you have in your home .These include; living rooms, beds and linen, kitchen equipment and Fridges, T.V, sofa sets and any other items you will require. You will buy your foods from the many supermarkets in the country and make your traditional meals as you require. Just as you make meals at home. Provision of a cook is optional at an extra cost. You will have a tour van and driver for your tours and travels.

Family Off-Season Travel
You’ll save a bundle by avoiding high season travel periods and you’ll get to interact with more locals instead of mixing with others from other countries of the world rather than the locals. The Hotels, Game Parks and Beaches won’t be crowded and you won’t be waiting for services in the dining halls.

Family City Tours in Africa
This tour takes your family to the heart of Tourism in East Africa. In kenya, you will be able to visit Nairobi where you will be taken by our tour guide for a city tour which takes you to the City centre, Railway Station, The Bomb Blast, Parliament,City Market,The Maasai Market, The Museum,The Nairobi National Park, Nairobi walking safari, Animal Orphanage, Giraffe Centre, Karen Blixen and The Carnivore.

In Africa, education tourism or edu-tourism refers to any "programme in which participants travel to a location as a group with the primary purpose of engaging in a learning experience directly related to the location”. It is comprised of several sub-types including ecotourism, heritage tourism, rural/farm tourism, and student exchanges between educational institutions. The notion of traveling for educational purposes is not new and its popularity in the tourism market is only expected to increase both locally and abroad. Victoria safaris is eager to increase its tourism earnings by tapping into this growing market phenomenon.

Ecotourism and Nature based Educational Tourism
Ecotourism involves visiting natural areas with the objectives of learning, studying or participating in activities that do not bring negative effects to the environment; whilst protecting and empowering the local community socially and economically. We consider an Eco Tour to be a trip that causes minimal impact to the environment and local people. The site is usually culturally and biologically diverse and attracts tourists and students who have a common interest in nature, wildlife and culture.

By choosing to go on an Eco Tour you will be given a unique opportunity to learn and experience nature. In addition a greater awareness of environmental issues will be developed as well as learning practices that can be incorporated in to your everyday routine on return. A fundamental element of an Eco Tour is the education of environmental issues such as, the protection of natural resources or endangered species, usually relevant to the destination. This may be conducted through lectures, involvement in conservation projects or simply by learning from our knowledgeable tour guides.

Rural Educational Tourism in Africa
The concept of Rural Educational Tourism is a direct expansion of ecotourism, which encourages visitors to experience rural cultural life at first hand. Rural Tourism is gathering strong support from small communities as rural people have realized the benefits of sustainable development brought about by similar forms of nature travel. Rural Educational tourism is a mild form of sustainable tourist development and multi-activity in rural areas through which the visitor/student has the opportunity to get acquainted with agricultural areas, agricultural occupations, local products, traditional cuisine and the daily life of the people, as well as the cultural elements and the authentic features of the area, while showing respect for the environment and tradition. Moreover, this activity brings visitors closer to nature and rural activities in which they can participate, be entertained and feel the pleasure of touring, learning and discovering. At the same time, it mobilizes the productive, cultural and developmental forces of an area, contributing in this way to the sustainable environmental, economic and social development of the rural area. Victoria safaris will take you for this tour.

Our horseback riding safaris in Kenya are without a doubt the most exciting and adventuresome of all the Victoria Safaris rides. Strong riders, confident at all paces on broken terrain riding athletic horses will be in their element here. The opportunity to see big game and interact with wild animals on splendid horses is thrilling. Sometimes in the Masai Mara huge herds of wildebeest and zebra extend as far as the eye can reach. The opportunity to see picturesque native tribesmen whose culture is dramatically different from ours in remote areas unspoiled by frequent tourist visits is fascinating.

The Laikipia rides around the snow capped peak of Mt. Kenya traverses several large ranches (up to 100,000 acres) which were carved out of the wilderness a century ago by white settlers. There are many similarities to the cattle ranches of the Rocky Mountain West. The wild game has been well preserved on these huge ranches although there are sometimes difficult interactions between game and cattle.
